Bubbaworld Replies to Brett Gaston

First off, thanks for your comments on our article "Playing Catch Okie Style".
We here at Bubbaworld are always open to comments from our readers regardless of the nature of those comments.

While we have received both praise and scorn for our efforts, you sir are the first to query as to whether we "blow it out our ASS".

We do our utmost to insure the accuracy of our articles. If you have evidence indicating that our coverage of the incidents described in the referenced article are incorrect we would be more than happy to take a look.

Everything we've seen, read or heard regarding this case leads us to believe that we reported the case accurately.

In your e-mail you contend that:

the child spent every waking hour at their house cause he loved it there!!!

Which leads us to wonder if you are contending that the child "loved" being tied to a truck or a tree and having objects thrown at him?

Or are you contending that the events depicted in the video tape and alleged in court never occurred?

Either these events occurred or they did not. Which is your contention?

If these events did not occur, why then would the defendants have pleaded "no contest" on child abuse charges arising from the alleged incident? Such a plea makes no sense what so ever, IF, the events did not occur or did not occur as depicted on the video tape.

The fact that Mr. Richter and Mr. Zezza only attempted to withdraw their "no contest" pleas AFTER sentencing seems to indicate they were in fact guilty but taken aback by the sentences received. Evidently neither man subscribed to the old adage that goes "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime."

Also in your e-mail you contend that:

No did you mention anything about the child's OWN family being evil and spiteful???

"Evil" and "spiteful" are NOT of themselves criminal offenses. We did point out quite clearly that the boy's mother was one of those charged with abusing the boy. We considered it best to deal with the criminal issues of the case. The fact is that the boy's mother, certainly a member of his family, was charged in the case. We reported that fact. Your personal opinion of the boys family does not to our knowledge play any role in the criminal aspects of the case.

You further state in your e-mail:

If you feel that by any apologizing to the accused family in this will fix the harm to these family's your totally wrong...

Several people have read the above, discussed it and tried to determine what it means. Thus far we are all at a loss to determine whom, in your opinion, is deserving an apology or owing an apology.

We here at Bubbaworld have not at any time tied anyone to a truck or a tree. Nor have we ever thrown anything at anyone so tied. We simply report, comment and editoralize on issues occurring within Oklahoma. For that we owe no one an apology.

As a result of your e-mail we were encouraged to update the "Playing Catch Okie Style" article. It is now current. If you would like to provide additional info on this case, evidence that we somehow "got it wrong" or simply to reply to this posting, we look forward to hearing from you.
