District Attorney Richard Gray

A Bubbaworld Editorial
Few, if any, Districts Attorney in Oklahoma can lay claim to the 'accomplishments' that have accrued to Richard Gray the District Attorney of Prosecutorial District 27, which includes Adair, Cherokee, Sequoyah and Wagoner Counties.
In only his first term as DA, Gray has managed to have:
An assistant DA, Steven Lewis Ramm, enter a Alford plea to a 'peeping tom'
charge.
An assistant DA, Janet Bickel, indicted on charges of offering false evidence
and possession of methamphetamine. Bickel also faces perjury
charges for falsely testifying before the Multi-County Grand Jury that
she "never purchased, received or otherwise obtained an illegal controlled
dangerous substance for her personal use."
His office administrator, Artest Vyrl Keeter, plead guilty to two counts of
perjury for falsely testifying that he had not coached witnesses about what
they should say before the Multi-County Grand Jury.
A state audit indicate that $14,723 is missing from a property forfeiture
fund maintained by his office.
Himself called before the Multi-County Grand Jury investigating corruption
in his office, TWICE and once demanded that two lawyers accompany him to
offer him legal advice.
Himself wiretapped by the state Attorney General's office as part of an
investigation into allegations the DA's office helped coverup drug crimes.
His office refuse to apply for up to $316,600 in federal grant funds for
fiscal year 2007 saying he would rather have 'the state' pay and this on the
idea that he was saving taxpayers money.
Have a court advocate's office take him to task because his office
refused to issue bench warrants or revocations of contempt citations in
domestic abuse cases. Then try to convince the state's Supreme
Court to stop a judge from reviewing his failure to uphold the law and issue
the bench warrants and revocations.
And believe it or not District Attorney Richard Gray is running for
re-election!!!.
In announcing his intent to seek re-election Gray
stated, "I am proud of the job I have done for the last three years.
I have gained valuable experience that will make my next term as district
attorney even more successful."
Come on folks, with a one office crime wave taking place is there anyone in their right mind that would vote for the guy running that office and this without regard to whether he was involved in the corruption himself or was so dumb he didn't realize it was ongoing?
With a District Attorney like Richard Gray running things is it any wonder that Oklahoma is so often the laughingstock of the country?
Voters in Adair, Cherokee, Sequoyah and Wagoner Counties get to vote upon Gray's 'accomplishments' while in office at the July 25th primary election. Hopefully the will keep his many 'accomplishments' in mind when they go to the polls...
