A Question of Priorities #3

In this section of Bubbaworld we reveal examples of events which should cause a reasonable person to question the priorities of both Oklahoma's Criminal Justice System and those that control it.

Delaware County District Court, Jay, Oklahoma

DA of Record: Terrell Crosson
Judge of Record: Alicia Littlefield

In January, 2005 Justin Sooter, age 23, of Colcord, Oklahoma pleaded no conest in Delaware County District Court on charges of child abuse-neglect, possession of controlled substance, arson and burglary.

The child abuse-neglect charge resulted from allegations that Sooter used a cigarette lighter and cigarette to burn the penis of a one year old boy.  Sooter was living with the child's mother and helping care for the child at the time of the abuse.

Judge Alicia Littlefield sentenced Sooter to an 8 years suspended sentence on the charges, ordered him to spend ten days in the Delaware County Jail and accessed $2,350 in court fines and costs.

As of June, 2005 court records indicate that an application to revoke the suspended sentence Judge Littlefield so graciously granted Sooter back in January has been filed.  A bench warrant for Sooter's arrest has been issued.
