A Question of Priorities #5
In this section of Bubbaworld we reveal examples of events which should cause a reasonable person to question the priorities of both Oklahoma's Criminal Justice System and those that control it.
Pittsburg County District Court, McAlester, Oklahoma
DA of Record: Jimmy Harmon
Judge of Record: James D. Bland
On 12/01/2004, James Watson, age 63, of Eufaula, Oklahoma pled no contest to a charge of lewd molestation of a 13 year old girl and displaying harmful materials to a minor.
Judge Bland accepted the plea deal struck between prosecutors and Watson, handing him a five year suspended sentence. The first two years of the suspended sentence were to be served under supervised probation. Watson was also accessed a total of $1,578 in fines, costs, compensation and other fees with an easy payment plan of $50 per month.
