With such a controversial article as The Fence of LeFlore County, Oklahoma
I suspected that I would be hearing from readers. Below is a sampling of the
comments received and my replies to those comments. From time to
time I will post addition reader comments when in my opinion they contribute to
the discourse on the situation at hand. Generally speaking I will not post
'hate mail', threats, praise, thanks or similar comments as they do not
contribute to understanding the situation occurring in LeFlore County.
Persons wishing to comment may do so by e-mailing

Hey, I love this kind of stuff, sure a neat webpage you set up. But when you
going to set up another webpage telling the other side of the story. Let's
interview and hear from the other party involved in this dispute. Presently your
webpage is all one sided. There is always two sides to a story. If I were
setting up this on my website, I wouldnt take sides (maybe you already have lol),
but I'd try to be neutral and let the people choose. You might even consider
creating a Poll, so when people have read both sides, they can vote on the matter.
Wouldnt that be interesting? But then if there is only one side told, a Poll
would be useless.

P.S. From a historical view, all disputes like this are settled in a civil court,
citizen vs citizen. Lets keep the government out of it. lol. The sad part is
when court is over, one side loses.
As someone who's had a great deal of experience with the corruption in
LeFlore County I appreciate your attention to the Ellison situation.
Our county commissioners clearly support the owners of the *** store ***
because county workers eat lunch there. I know this because county trucks are
frequently at their store.
My neighbors have a piece of property I'd sure like to have. I wonder---if I
make lunch for county workers, can I rip out my neighbors fence and claim their
property as my own?
(Name withheld by request)
Those 'neighbors' should be ashamed of themselves. I couldn't do that to
anyone, no matter how much I hated them. No one who's decent could do that to
another human being.
If what I read on this site is true, and I'm sure it it, Lance Smith, Rob
Wallace, and Marion Fry have broken a few laws themselves by letting the
neighbors do this to Ellison. They've basically given the neighbors permission
to harass Ellison.
Does Lance Smith not care that he is putting the county at risk of facing a HUGE
lawsuit. Or does he know, but just doesn't care? What if Ellison's house caught
on fire? What if an ambulance needed to get to her house? What
if---God forbid---someone died because of that damn fence?
I used to think Commissioner Lance Smith was a decent, honest young man. I voted
for him and helped get him elected because I campaigned for him.
I won't make that mistake twice.

Thanks for your comments.
Unfortunately few people realize that county residents are liable for the actions
or inaction's of their commissioners.
Yes there is a huge liability in this situation if an illegal fence on county
property prevented emergency services from reaching the Ellison property and as
a result someone died. Tort lawyers from all over the country would be drooling
over such a case. A case which would of course be filed in federal court, not
LeFlore County District Court. The property owners of LeFlore County would be
liable for any judgment handed down in such a case and would likely see their
property taxes increased to pay off such a judgment.
One of the neat things about elections; if you made a mistake during the last
one you get to correct it at the next one.

I applaud you for having the integrity to publish this article. Media is the
means of conveying messages and stories. Some of us like it and some of us
don't. Yes, there is always two sides to a story and some may say three sides.
Yet, it is too often citizens of low financial means are taken advantage of.
In this article you interpreted some meaningful pieces. Especially that of
local government involvement and lack of involvement.
I wish this family this best in this situation. It is an awkward position to be
in. I have heard both sides of the story and believe me Ms. Ellison has more
than enough evidence to show that she owns this property and the driveway.
Unfortunately, the other family has proof they own it as well. But it was not
done in a legal or ethical manner. Yet, it depends on whose friend you are on
the way up the political line.
I have lived in both rural and city areas. Rural areas are so much more corrupt
as I have witnessed. It is small town folks who is a family member of somebody
and an outsider has no chance to ever be right.
I have an elderly mother and father, and a handicapped brother. My neighbors
put up a handicapped sign for parking. The mother, 90 years old is in poor
health. She doesn't use the transportation because most of the time when she
leaves the home she is taken away in an ambulance. Her healthy daughter,
son-in-law, and 25 year old grandson use the parking space daily. One end of
the sign is posted about two feet onto our property. BUT...they are not
blocking us in!!! Legally we could make a fuss about it, but they were not and
have not been totally ignorant in taking the whole front of our property.
My mom has said something to them about it. They realize that there was an
error made and never bothered to correct it. To this day it has not been a
major deal because we are friendly neighbors and when help is needed we don't
turn a blind eye to one another.
Now if we park in this spot we will get ticketed. And so have they...because
sometimes they forget to put the handicapped sign in the window.

Thanks for your comments.
The primary purpose of government, all government, is to protect the rights of
the citizen. When government fails or refuses to protect the rights of even
one citizen, government itself is a failure.
What struck me from the first instant of hearing of this situation is that
LeFlore County government has failed miserably in its primary purpose. It
this case it has failed to act to resolve a relatively simple question, that
question being, "Is any portion of The Fence of LeFlore County located upon
public property?"
It is a simple question requiring only a yes or no answer. That the question
remains unanswered to this date strongly suggests that county officials know
the answer and are working in a concerted effort to avoid revealing that answer.
Why the LeFlore County commissioners refuse to answer this simple question is
open to debate. However there is no doubt they have thus far refused to do
their duty, answer the question and settle the issue once and for all.
Actions usually speak louder than words. But in this case, LeFlore County
government has managed to equate the two into an official government policy,
one of "No Action Taken".
It is therefore reasonable to question whether their inaction is the result of
favoritism and/or outright corruption.
Webmaster, Bubbaworld.com
Thank you soo much for putting this on your website. I have tried everything
I could do to help Barbara and her family with this issue. But like her I ran
into nothing but brick walls everywhere I went. When "Leflore County "doesn't
want truth to come out there is Nothing the "outside" person can do about it .
It is this way with everything here, but All we can do is take one thing at a
time and this is one injustice that needs to be dealt with. Then maybe we can
be heard on the next injustice alot sooner and quicker , as they will know we
mean business and have the backbone to see it through.
Please no name or email addy for me . I have heard enough things about
leflore county to be afraid of what can happen .Just sign me...

Thanks for your comments.
While no one can be expected to right all of the wrongs they see, it is the
duty of all who see an injustice to speak out in an attempt to make it right.
I applaud your efforts, even if they ran into a 'brick wall'.
While brick walls are strong, there's no brick wall that can withstand
the continual pounding of a thousand outraged hands and strong voices
demanding justice.
Scottish philosopher Edmund Burke understood the truth way back in the 18th
century. Now it's time for the good people of LeFlore County to learn that
same truth. And that truth is, Evil triumphs when good men do nothing.

The following update was added to The Fence of LeFlore County on 2/22/05:
Early on the morning of 2/21/05, Barbara Ellison's
step-father, Joel P. Weller, husband of Maxine Weller, passed away. He had
been taken from a local nursing home to the hospital in Poteau, OK on Friday.
Joel was a veteran of WW II having served as a fighter pilot and instructor in
the U.S. Army Air Corps. During Joel's stay in the nursing home and hospital,
friends of Barbara Ellison and her mother had been providing transportation as
time and circumstances permitted in order that Maxine could spend as much time
with Joel as possible.
Sadly, Maxine was not at Joel's side at the time of his passing owing to a
lack of transportation and The Fence of LeFlore County. The fence which even
on the day of Joel's passing prevented her from leaving home to view Joel's
body until outside transportation could once again be arranged.
Joel's spirit is now free. Once again he can soar with eagles in the
skies overhead, as he did so many years ago. For now Joel is truly free of
the bonds of mortal men and the fences with which they try to make prisoners
of us all.

As someone who has been following the Ellison land situation for quite some time, I was relieved to see that someone had finally taken notice. I felt that your article was thoroughly researched, informative and unbiased. In the past I have been abhorred by the ridicule and demeaning comments that Ms. Ellison has suffered in trying to make her voice heard on this matter (i.e. public forums, etc.)!! This situation has been going on for what I feel is an unnecessarily prolonged length of time. Surely it should not be so difficult for the county to conduct a land survey to resolve this issue once and for all. I myself live in an entirely different state and have seen my share of property disputes, but never have they taken this long to resolve or the parties involved so easily dismissed and subject to such childish ridicule and comments from their peers. How would they feel if THEY were to have a fence restricting them to their property and an eyesore such as that camper to look upon every waking morning?
Hopefully your article will make others aware of what is going on and somehow help speed up the resolution process. I am not putting down on the government officials in Oklahoma, for they may have had reasons for their actions that are unknown to me or out of my realm of knowledge on these subjects. However, I do hope that they will look a little more closely at this issue and help to end it for good. I am sure Ms. Ellison and her elderly mother would like to have access off of their property once again and to be able to continue their existence without all of this hassle.
I am in hopes that you will post this message as I know others who feel the
same way, but are too timid to voice their opinion on this matter even though,
as a free country, we have that right.
Sincerely,
Denise in LA
Thanks for your well thought out comments.
When I first learned of Barbara Ellison's plight two issues struck me
as screaming for answers.
First, why have the County Commissioners of LeFlore County refused to do their
jobs and settle the public property issues once and for all?
All it takes is a land survey. Why are they so scared of a legitimate land survey? Do they
have something to hide? If so, what?
Second, why do so many of Ellison's detractors over-look the fact that it is a crime to
convert public land to private use? Were someone to fence off a portion of the county courthouse you can bet county officials would take action. If someone
were to fence off Commissioner Lance Smith's front yard, blocking his driveway,
you can pretty well rest assured that the full weight of law would swoop down
upon the miscreant. When law enforcement refuses to uphold the law or does so
only on a selective basis there is no law other than the survival of the fittest.
It is not only reasonable but also morally necessary to ask why have
the LeFlore County Commissioners, the County Sheriff and the District Attorney
crammed their collective heads in the sand while public property
in front of Barbara Ellison's home was illegally converted to private use?
In my opinion, the only conclusion available to a reasonable person is that
they simply do not care to enforce the law, they do not care about Barbara
Ellison's rights and they certainly do not care about the rule of law. If
they did this fiasco would have ended shortly after it started.
And yes we all have a right to speak out against evil. Not only do we have
a right to do so we have an obligation to do so. For it is the tolerance of
evil and evildoers that permits evil to flourish. When good people are cowered
and remain silent in the face of evil they are nothing but cowards and deserve
the oppression they will ultimately feel.
Benjamin Franklin once said, "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a
little security will deserve neither and lose both."
If I didn't know better I would swear Ol' Ben was talking about a lot of the
folks in LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
Each and every man, woman and child in LeFlore County has a stake in Barbara
Ellison's fight to bring justice to what is currently a lawless county. As
long as the citizens of LeFlore County tolerate injustice they are going to
have injustice and the next injustice just may well take place at their house
unless they wake up, wise up and rise up against the evil that surrounds them.
Webmaster, Bubbaworld.com
Dear webmaster;
I am in Florida for the winter, but I am from Michigan and
after reading all of the issue of the Barbara Ellison's property dispute it is
hard to believe that any government officials are not responding to the
allegations. So in my opinion I believe there is merit to Barbara Ellisons
accusations.
We don't have things like this happen in Michigan, our officials want to get
reelected. And in Florida after the 2000 president election officials here are
very afraid of looking corrupt as they may have been in the past.
Therefore the county must respond soon or face public scrutiny and possibly the
defeat of all county commissioners at the next election and the people will not
forget some problem this dire.
Ernie Gomez in Lake Wales, Florida
Thanks for your comments Mr. Gomez.
As I've dug deeper into the fiasco that is The Fence of LeFlore County
I've come to the opinion that government officials in LeFlore County, Oklahoma
simply do not care what anyone thinks and haven't for a long time.
As a result of publishing this report I've received from various county residents
allegations and evidence of corruption throughout the county's government. A
corruption eating away at the county like a cancer consuming everything it touches.
In my opinion, if even one LeFlore County Commissioner cared about truth and
justice this issue would have been settled months ago. That it hasn't and
that all three commissioners have refused to do anything to resolve the issue
can only be seen as a tact and willful endorsement of the oppression of
Barbara Ellison and her mother.
Likewise in my opinion, the residents of LeFlore County have had repeated
opportunities to turn these rascals out of office and have thus far kept
electing them time and again. Hopefully the voters will wake up and realize
that what has happened to Barbara Ellison could just as easily happen to them
and that will motivate voters do something about it at the next election.
In the mean time, I encourage everyone to spread the news of Barbara Ellison's
plight near and far. Contact news media, government officials and radio
talk shows and help shine a bright light on the corruption of LeFlore County,
Oklahoma. It's the very least honest and law abiding persons can do.
Well, this is one of the most ignorant and illegal things i've ever seen.
Several years ago when I got my phone installed by OK Western I told them I
wanted the box on my property they told me they couldnt cause it had to be on
COUNTY PROPERTY.
I'd rip that friggin fence out.
I guess Ellison ain't in the county click and the neighbors are. If the truth
was know the neighbors probably donated big bucks to the sheriff and the
commissioners.
There a bunch of sick bastards.
R. Johnson
Thanks for your comments.
In Oklahoma all utilites have to place their lines, poles, pipes, equipment
boxes and so forth on the public right of way. The only thing the utilities
can place on private property are the actual service lines to the property.
There is no doubt that the phone box in question is located on the county
right of way. It always has been and always will be.
Most of us would have ripped the fence out long ago. Some of us would have
likely met the fence builders with a loaded shotgun before they had the first
fence post in place. However, Barbara Ellison has elected to follow the law
and demand that government do its job. I admire her for that. That government
refuses to do its job and in the process violates her civil rights is not a
reflection on Barbara Ellison but upon corrupt government officials. Ultimately
one of more LeFlore County officials may find themselves behind a fence, one
in El Reno, OK.
And yes there is a sickness in LeFlore County, OK. It is like a cancer eating
away at everything it touches and if left unchecked the entire county will
soon belong to the cancer. Assuming it doesn't already.
About time some common sense prevailed, but then common sense isn't too
common these days, especially in LeFlore County.
Glenn Smith
Thanks for your comments.
And I could not agree more regarding common sense, or the lack there of in
LeFlore County.
It also seems that honesty, integrity and devotion to duty are also somewhat
lacking within LeFlore County government also. Hopefully these shortcomings can
be resolved come next election cycle.
Maybe if enough of the people of that county would call the governor, about
this he could see that unless he does something he might have a hard time
getting re-elected. Same with all the other people in that county.
Don Lawson.
Thanks for your comments.
Certainly calling Governor Brad Henry is a good idea. It might help or it
might not. At least it might give him the idea that something 'stinks' in
LeFlore County. As to calling county officials, Barbara Ellison has been
calling and writing them for months. Evidently they are all deaf, blind and
DUMB. At least to anyone demanding justice for Barbara Ellison.
Dear People at BubbaWorld,
I want to commend you on a thorough job done on your coverage of the "Fence of
Leflore County" situation. Clearly, the county officials in Leflore County
have done a poor job of trying to right a wrong. It has been amazing to me
that they would not order a survey done of the land, in order to settle the
question about whether or not the fence was setting on an easement. I also
want to let you know that I feel that you have taken it upon yourself to make
available to the public this situation. Without your coverage of this story,
many people, especially those from out of state, would never have known Barbara
Ellison's story.
Sincerely,
Ann Fulgham
Attala County, MS
Thanks for both your comments and kind words.
We became involved in Barbara Ellison's situation owing to a perception on our
part that LeFlore County officials were doing NOTHING to right the wrongs
being done to her. Over the course of our coverage of this shameful lawlessness
nothing has changed our original view. And this in spite of changes in
the holders of the offices of both Sheriff and District Attorney. To this day
not a single government official in LeFlore County has done ANYTHING toward
resolving the issue of the taking of public property for private use, which
is of course a crime. Evidently they are just not interested in upholding the
law. Otherwise they would have done so long before now.
I have been a staunch supporter of Ms. Ellison since she brought this issue
to my attention last year and, like others, have had no luck with efforts to
get the county commissioners or other officials to anything to resolve it.
She is to be applauded for taking the initiative to finally remove that fence!
It's now time for the Sheriff's department to follow up on the stalking and
harassment issues and put a stop to this madness once and for all!
Perhaps Ms. Ellison should install a fence on her property and install locked
gates to keep her tormentors out.
Kim Collins
Thanks for your comments.
Since I first heard of Barbara's plight I've been astounded by the total lack
of action on the part of LeFlore County officials, all of whom seem to think
that if they just wait long enough this fiasco will simply go away.
It won't. The sooner the 'powers' of LeFlore County, Oklahoma wake up, wise
up and do the right thing the better off everyone will be. The rule of
law and the Oklahoma and U.S. Constitutions apply, even in LeFlore County.
And in spite of what the 'good old boys' would have us believe.
Thanks for your comments.
Although they do not make sense they do serve to demonstrate the thought processes or
more accurately the lack thereof which has permitted this fiasco to occur.
Now, on to the issues you have raised, as best I can decipher them.
There has been no land 'given back' to anyone in this situation. The best
evidence of this fact is that the telephone junction box is located where it
always has been. Had the old easement been 'given back' to anyone, both
Oklahoma law and Oklahoma Corporation Commission rules require the phone
company to move their lines and junction boxes off private property and onto
the county easement. That this has not taken place proves you are wrong on
the issue.
Your contention that Barbara Ellison does not know who was honking a horn in her
own yard should win the Stupid Comment of the Year award, if such exists. Try
this test for yourself. Have someone you know drive their vehicle in close
proximity to you and honk that vehicle's horn. Unless you are blind, deaf and
totally unaware of your surroundings it will be obvious who honked the horn.
That you allude to a 'town full of teenagers' is simply a red herring and you
should know it. Everyone else will. Barbara Ellison not only heard the horn
she saw the vehicle and driver that was harassing her. It really is that
simple.
As to getting my facts straight, they are straight. Throughout Part 1 of The
Fence of LeFlore County, Oklahoma I've taken great pains to not only get the
facts straight but to present proof of the statements made within the article.
If you would care to present evidence that anything I've written either in
the article itself or in my follow up to comments from readers is inaccurate
please feel free to do so. I welcome not only comments from readers but also
article submissions in refutation. The only requirement for such articles is
they must contain at least some evidence to refute my original claims. If you
are man enough to provide such refutation with evidence to back up your claims,
I'm man enough to publish it right along side the original article. Please
feel free to consider the gauntlet dropped.
As to the issue of whether I live in LeFlore County, I do not.
However that does not mean that I would or even should tolerate injustice,
corruption and fraud being practiced against those that do. That Barbara
Ellison was and still is unable to obtain justice in LeFlore County, Oklahoma
is sufficient cause for making her story known. It is also sufficient cause
for my continuing to do so in subsequent articles. Part II of The Fence of
LeFlore County, Oklahoma will be going on-line shortly. For that I make
no apologies. If the truth hurts you must be on the wrong side of the issue.
Webmaster, Bubbaworld.com
Thank you for disproving everything I was told by the neighbors and their
supporters.
I'm one of many people who's been lied to about who owns the property in
question, and after looking at the documents you posted, I have no doubt that
Ellison is the legal owner.
The 'neighbors' need to back the hell off. They've stirred up enough trouble
and have told enough lies.
The Poteau newspaper should've been called. If they had done a story about
what the neighbors were doing to Ellison and demanded to know why officials
weren't doing anything to help her, maybe the good people in this county would
have stepped in earlier.
Belva Barber and OK Western probably just trusted that the neighbors were
telling the truth because the neighbors are a church-going 'Christian' family.
This is a good lesson for us all: We should be careful when dealing with a wolf
in sheep's clothing.
Signed,
Lied To In LeFlore County
Thanks for your comments.
Undoubtedly there have been many lies told in regard to this situation.
Those that desire the truth can and will find it, as it is available. We have
in this series of articles not only presented the truth but provided documentation
to demonstrate the truth. However, the truth is like food. You can place both
before a person and they must want either before they will consume it. It
appears that some of the citizens of LeFlore County had rather 'starve'
than partake of the truth.
Of course, we at Bubbaworld are going to continue serving up the truth and not just for and to the residents of LeFlore County but to any and everyone willing to partake of it.
Slowly but surely eyes are being opened in LeFlore County and not just about 'Sunday Morning Christians' and cowardly county officials. Slowly but surely people outside LeFlore County are taking notice. And they are not liking what they see.
Sam Cooke was right when he sang "A Change Is Gonna Come".
Webmaster, Bubbaworld.com
I as a friend of Barbara, want to thank Bubbaworld, for these articles, to
expose the illegal goings on in that county.
We had a problem with our county government and the sheriff's office. The state's
attorney was contacted and his office investigated, and put out the sheriff
and all his deputies and appointed a new sheriff. If you all had a states
attorney like that, it would help.
Don Lawson.
Thanks for your comments.
Hopefully one of these days the Oklahoma Attorney General will see fit to conduct an investigation. He has available the power to do so via the Multi-County Grand Jury which is very well suited to investigating government malfeasance, corruption and fraud in both local and state government.
In an upcoming article we will be documenting extensive fraud and cover-ups in relation to The Fence of LeFlore County and hopefully enough people will see and understand the evidence to force the Attorney General to act.
Webmaster, Bubbaworld
Dear Bubbaworld Guy,
It looks like some county officials need to be locked up in that new jail of
theirs with Ellison's neighbors in the cell next to them.
(Name Withheld)
Thanks for your comments, with which I could not agree more. Lawlessness should never be tolerated, not even when it is apparently acceptable to those sworn to uphold the law.
The 'neighbors' told the phone company workers they owned the county
property where there was already an existing pedestal, and told them they
couldn't install another line to that same property? The phone guys should've
just installed the line anyway and told the 'neighbors' to contact their office
if they had any complaints instead of putting two of those ugly pedestals in
the front yard, on private property.
The law requires that all utilities, including telephone pedestals, are to be
installed on county property. Miss Ellison should make the phone company remove
the pedestals from her property. If she doesn't, I wouldn't be surprised if
the county eventually claims they own her front yard because the pedestals are
there.
Regarding the actions of Undersheriff Bruce Curnutt in Part 3, I'd like to say
that he was way out of line by demanding to see the id of the people who were
tearing down that fence. He's not Gestapo and we're not in Nazi Germany.
(No name)
Thanks for your comments.
Regarding 'the phone guys', my personal opinion was and remains that they were either cowards or in 'cahoots' with Ellison's 'neighbors'. I have been told that several phone company employees frequent the store next door to Barbara Ellison's home, especially around lunch time. If this is the case, the odds are it was an in 'cahoots' thing rather than a cowardly thing which prevented the installation both originally and during the second installation effort.
One of the most foolish aspects of the 'phone fiasco' was that the phone company on the one hand claimed that it must have its facilities on the ciounty right-of-way while also claiming that it required an easement from Ellison's neighbors to get to those facilities. 'Dumb and dumber' does not begin to describe such flawed logic or those that accepted it as fact.
Regarding Undersheriff Curnutt's actions when the nuisance was being abated, if anything he should have written up a commendation for those civic minded citizens removing a public nuisance from county property. Obviously he did not see it that way, and that in spite of what the law says.
Webmaster, Bubbaworld
Thank you for bringing out all the corruption, lies and deceit that was going
on over this land. Barbara has stood firm in the face of all the derogatory
remaks that have been made to her and about her. She is a woman of conviction
and strength. She has, with your help, taken a HUGE step in cleaning up Leflore
county. Now all citizens of this county should do the same. We can not do any
less. The footsteps have been marked for us all to follow in. Thank you Barbara
and Bubbaworld!!
NO NAME PLEASE
Thanks for your comments and the kind words regarding our efforts. Your comments regarding Barbara and her efforts to bring justice to LeFlore County, Oklahoma are right on the money.
Throughout it all, it has been Barbara and her mother Maxine that have endured and survived ridicule, abuse and outright terrorism. All that I have done is to report the events after they occurred and that from relative safety, far from LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
The truth is available, thanks in a large part to the good folks at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission who simply would not let an injustice prevail. Now that the citizens of LeFlore County know the truth, it is up to them, as a society, to decide whether to do something about it or continue looking the other way.
Webmaster, Bubbaworld
As a relative, friend and supporter of Barbara Ellison, I want to personally thank you for the effort you have put into this project. Being a half assed web designer myself, I know the time you have had to spend creating the pages for "The Fence", gathering information and verifying it.
It appears that the tide has turned for Barbara and her Mom with the information you posted in part 5 and I am glad to see justice begin to prevail in LeFlore county.

Thanks for your comments and your are certainly welcome for what ever help we may provide in bringing justice to this scandalous affair. Our contributions in revealing the trials and tribulations of two women who were simply trying to live in peace and be left alone pale in comparison to what these two brave women have endured while living the horror story. But a better day is coming, for as you point out the tide has turned and we are going to continue to do whatever we can to insure in remains turned.

Dear Bubbaworld Webmster,
You feel free to post everyone's information etc.... Who are you? you spend hours upon hours looking all this stuff up. Get a job bubbaworld webmaster. oh, but I am sure you are on Government freebies. What's your name? You seem to refer to yourself only as "the writer".
I accidentally stumbled upon this website and it has given me a heartache. I was born and raised in LeFlore county but am so very thankful I no longer reside there because of people like you and the ones you have written about.
If this woman had an issue with the fence, why didn't she tear it down herself? If she wanted a survey, why didn't she have it surveyed and get reimbursed from the county? don't you think they have much bigger fish to fry than dealing with this obviously deranged ellison crew? come on, can't you find anything better to write about. get off your butt and get a job. Lance Smith works his ass off every single day of his life. You ought to try it. If you think you could do a better job, why don't you run for elected office? but of course, you prefer to remain nameless, just offering criticism about others. I can't believe I have wasted so much time reading your crap and responding. Guess I am ALMOST as ignorant as you.

When one engages in argumentum ad hominem such as you do above it really detracts from one's argument and diminishes reasonable discourse. However, you raised a couple of valid points which deserve comment.
The information posted on Bubbaworld since its inception in 1997 is public information. Neither I, the webmaster, or the various contributors to Bubbaworld publish anyone's private information. Never have, never will.
If you cared to look at the various documents which are part of the series of articles covering The Fence of LeFlore County, Oklahoma you would find that we insured that personal information such as SSN, Driver's License numbers, address, phone numbers and DOBs were redacted from the official documents before publication. If what you said were true we would have simply published the documents as they were received from the LeFlore County Courthouse. You can walk into the courthouse and obtain them yourself and they will be complete with all the info we redacted before publication.
If the truth as revealed in this series of reports on Bubbaworld has given you a heartache you might wish to consider your own point of view and why you are happy you no longer live in LeFlore County. The truth is what it is. If the truth hurts then one may be on the wrong side of the fence.
As to why Barbara Ellison didn't tear down the fence herself, you might wish to review Part 1 wherein we described, albeit somewhat mistakenly, the fence itself. It was constructed of welded steel pipe and cow, not hog, panels as we stated in Part 1, set on large diameter steel posts embedded deep into the ground. It required three able bodied people working hard at it half a day to cut the fence out. The remnants of the steel fence posts remain today as it will take heavy equipment to pull them from the ground. Now maybe you believe Barbara Ellison and her 72 year old mother should have been able to do this work themselves. But you would be wrong, of course.
You question why Barbara Ellison did not have a survey performed. She did have multiple surveys performed and no one in county government was interested in seeing them. There's no provision in Oklahoma law for a land owner to have a land survey conducted and then be reimbursed by the county.
As to what 'deranged ellison crew' you are referring I'm at a loss. It was not Barbara Ellison that constructed a fence across neighboring property blocking all access to the public roadway. You seem to have it backwards and unless you would like to clarify the issue in a follow up I will simply leave it at that.
As to whether LeFlore County Commissioner Lance Smith 'works his ass off every single day of his life', I have no idea. I am not aware of Commissioner Smith's work ethic. I do have grave reservations about his honesty and integrity. Were Commissioner Smith an honest public servant it would not have taken a court action by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to force the truth from him. Commissioner Smith had many months to tell the truth and refused to do so. Many months while Barbara Ellison and her mother were confined by a fence illegally constructed upon both county and Ellison property. Commissioner Smith could have resolved the issue at any time of his choosing. That he did not until confronted with a court action speaks volumes of the man's character. And it's not a flattering speech.
When the truth hurts, one needs to consider that possibly they are on the wrong side of the fence. That is certainly the case when it comes to The Fence of LeFlore County, Oklahoma.

I noticed that you still prefer to remain anonymous. I would also like to add one more comment now that I have calmed down over reading all of that last night. For starters, (yes, I have spoken to an attorney licensed in the state of OK.) That issue with the fence was a civil issue. The county commissioners had nothing to do with it. He cannot tear a fence down that is built on private land. Also I would like to mention that his legal counsel told him, the county commissioner to stay out of it. Again, you need to have both sides of the story instead of just attack, attack, attack.
You catch more flies with honey my dear webmaster. Be careful about your slandering of others.
Sincerely ,
Lucie Smith Cape
Thanks for your comments.
It is good that you have calmed down. Unfortunately it appears that you have yet to grasp the reality of The Fence of LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
Reality is that the vast majority of the fence was not built on private
land but rather upon county right-of-way as was determined by the Oklahoma
Corporation Commission and attested to by the sworn statement of Commissioner
Smith himself.
Might I suggest that you go back and actually read for comprehension,
Part 5, for in that part there are the official documents detailing
the ownership of the property and the clear proof that the majority of the
fence was built on county land.
Land which is under the direct control of the LeFlore County Commissioners
and within the District represented by none other than Commissioner Smith,
who by Oklahoma Statute has the legal authority to order the removal from
that land any fence constructed upon it without the approval of the county
commission.
I do not know how to make these facts any clearer to you. The
documents are there, including the sworn statement made under oath by
Commissioner Smith, and the documents speak for themselves.
If Commissioner Smith's attorney advised him to 'stay out of it' then the Commissioner might want to consider finding another attorney as it would appear he is not being well advised regarding his duties, responsibilities and powers as a county commissioner in Oklahoma.
As for 'both sides of the story', Commissioner Smith or any other government official or employee that desires to refute anything appearing in the series is more than welcome to submit their statement to the Webmaster and it will be published, intact and without editing except for formatting for display as an HTML page.
As to 'slandering', it is not slander when one speaks the truth. It is not libel when one writes the truth. The next time you consult with 'an attorney licensed in the state of OK.' you might wish to ask for an explanation of the difference between slander and libel as it seems you have the two confused. Rather than a tongue-in-cheek reference to slandering, your e-mail should have made reference to libeling.

Dear Friend,
You have done an excellent job of presenting the facts regarding Barbara Ellison's land. Had it not been for you, Barbara would have had no support, to speak of, especially not the kind that would make public the atrocities that were taking place. Thanks for a straight to the point, easily understood explanation of what has been happening for many months.
Sincerely,
Ann Breedlove
Thanks for your comments and kind words.
While we here at Bubbaworld are proud of our efforts in this case, the
truth is our's has been an easy task. All we had to do was report
the events. Barbara and Maxine had to live them.

After reading the articles and court documents posted on Bubbaworld, a person will probably have one of two reactions: anger ,or anger.
An honest person will be angry that political corruption is so arrogantly and blatantly practiced to benefit certain people who commit outrageous criminal acts against innocent people.
A dishonest person will be angry that decent people dared say anything about it.
Joel Cape referred to the victims in this matter as 'the deranged ellison crew'? Deranged? These women were harassed, verbally threatened, threatened with guns, slandered, cursed, stalked, had their fence torn out, had their propane lines ripped from the ground and had their trees cut down, and Mr. Cape calls them 'deranged', and calls the Bubbaworld guy 'ignorant' ?
Having one's cranium inserted in one's alimentary canal does tend to impede one's vision. I suggest the Capes get their head out, then get their dictionary out and look up the definition of 'ignorant', then go back and look at the documents on your website.
The smart-*** aleck ***, elitist comments by the Capes are typical of those who want to protect certain criminals and those protecting the criminals, and in doing so, help to perpetuate future criminal acts against other innocent victims, such as Ellison and Weller.
Along with other county officials, Commissioner Lance Smith shirked his duties and broke the law. Any lawyer who says differently is either trying to protect his own dirty political connections, or he's trying to protect his own dirty *** backside ***.
You might not post this, but I sure do feel better having written it.
(Unsigned)Thanks for your comments.
Our coverage of this shameful case has certainly angered a lot of people. Law abiding persons are angered over what happened to Barbara and Maxine. Lawless persons are angered at Barbara and Maxine for refusing to be silent and cooperative victims and angered at Bubbaworld for exposing the crimes and injustices committed against these women.
Had this scenario occurred ten years ago, no one outside of Wister, OK
would have heard of it. Today it's out there for the world to see,
thanks to the internet, and that fact itself angers some people.
Especially those with vested interests in this case.
